I-864 Q: Income vs. Assets

My mom is currently with me in the US on a visitor visa. I am a USC getting ready to apply for her GC before her 6-month stay is over in Dec. I am currently out of work (so no income), though I have financial assets > $100k. Should I expect an objection from USCIS for not having any income, or would my assets fulfill their requirement?

would appreciate any guidance on this matter.

If you have sufficient assets for your household size, combined with the immigrant's assets, you don't need income for the I-864.

Every $5 of assets offsets the income requirement by $1. So if you have $100K of assets, that's treated as the equivalent of $20K of income. $20K would be enough for a household size of 2 (except Hawaii and Alaska), but not enough for 3.
