I-864, Line 25

Dear all,

I would really appreciate anyone who can help in my situation. I would like to file for my parents. I know for form I-864 we only need to submit the most recent tax return. However, in line 25, it asks for the total income for the last three years. My situation is that I did file the tax returns for the last three years, but only last year's income was above 125% of the proverty line. The other two were way below the line. So my question is whether it is mandatory to list last three years' total income on the form I-864. If I list all three, will it affect my application? Or do I need to find a co-sponser? Or wait for another year? Thanks.

I think the 125% of the poverty line applies to your current income, not you past three years. So if are making above the 125% now, then you should be ok.
You still have to list income for the last three years if you had any. Just get a letter of employment from your current employer and 6 months pay stubs to prove that you are capable of supporting your parents now. I doubt they will deny because you didn't make enough three years ago..
