According to the instructions, the sponsor's income requirement for a 2 person household is $18,212 annually. My wife is sponsoring me for AOS but she was ill for most of 2008 and was only able to work for a few months and only filed a little over $17,500 for her 2008 taxes. She is expected to make over $28,000 this year and we obtained a job letter for my application noting her salary. However, USCIS sent me a RFE stating that she didnt meet the minimum income requirements and that we should show assets or get a co-sponsor. My question is how much asset would be enough to make her eligible to sponsor me? If we were to show a savings account, how much money would be enough? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you/your wife own a house, or more than one car, or have spending/checking account, or retirement account (you need to subtract the tax from that one) you can add those money. I believe for wife/husband category you have to divide the amount by 3 (for other categories by 5 - I know that for sure :) ). So if, say your wife made $17K/year, and her 2nd car costs $10K, then it'll be $17K + $10K/3 ~ $20K, so you are good. Also her employment letter and paychecks will matter A LOT in this situation.
