My wife'sincome is not sufficient for filling my change of status. So her uncle is cosponsoring me. Now my question is do we need to file 864A? I am a bit confused

Even if your wife's income is not sufficient to sponsor you for the purpose of I-864, she MUST need to file/fill up form I-864 because she is your primary sponsor if you are going to file AOS thru the marraige with her.

As for her uncle to be a co-sponsor then if her uncle lives with you guys in the same house then he would be filing I-864A; otherwise he would file another I-864 like your wife. When sponsor (s) lives in the same household, s/he needs to file form I-864A.
