I-864 and I-864a

Hi, so I am incredibly confused about these two forms, as well as I-864W and I-864EZ.

Basically, my situation is that I am currently married, and I am trying to bring my husband here to the United States, just like everyone else. We've gotten through everything, and have now paid the fee to the NVC.

And a quick question here, would I go ahead and start on the I-864 forms in the first place if it says on the receipt the status is 'paid'?

An additional note to my situation is that I am currently a student with a side, part-time job, and I live with my parents at home. So would I need to fill out both I-864 AND I-864A? What about the other two forms? They don't seem necessary, but I thought I would go ahead and ask to make sure. I understand that I-864A is a contract between the person that would be supporting our household, but on I-864, there's a part that asks about the household size of the sponsor. According to that information, I am the sponsor because I am the petitioner, but what about my father? What am I to put for him? Completely at a loss. I may add more questions here in reply as I go on...

Oh, and another thing. My father's currently unemployed, but he has pretty high taxes from his last income tax return; will that affect our sponsorship for my husband?

Thanks

Neither I-864W and I-864EZ are applicable to you.

I-864W is for when the intending immigrant already has accumulated 40 quarters for Social Security (normally through work visas). I-864EZ requires you the sponsor to have all the required income by yourself, which you don't have.

You need to fill out I-864 because you are the sponsor, and your father is the joint sponsor and he would fill out the I-864A.

If your father is unemployed, he will need passive income (e.g. interest, dividends, pension), and/or sufficient assets that can be used for support.
