I-824 question

Hello,

I have a Green card and my family were listed as dependents on the I-140 ( which was approved ) and I-485 petition (we applied our Green card together).I wanted to pursue Consular Processing for my family from Mumbai.

Since I-824 approval takes a long time at Vermont, the question I have is:

1) do I need the I-824 to be approved or will the I-824 "receipt" along with the other documents and forms be enough for my family to get a visa number .

2)Is there any other way by which we can expedite the I-824 approval under special circumstances .

Thanks for your help.

The only way I can think of is AC140.

You will need an attorney's participation for this and so, please consult one to find out if you can do AC140.;)

I think you should first e-mail Mumbai consulate about the procedures. I am pretty sure that they will accept I-824 receipt. I did FTJ for my spouse through chennai and they didnt even see my I-824 not waited for its approval.

Dont worry about I-824's approval, I dont think teh consulates give importance to it anymore.

Good luck.
