I emigrated to the US with my US-citizen wife and children. Although we'd had a common law relationship for 15 years, we'd only got married 12 months before we arrived in the US. As a result of that late marriage, I was given conditional permanent resident for 2 years.
I failed to lodge the I-751 petition (to remove the conditional residency) within the timeframe required and received a letter from USCIS saying the my conditional residency had been terminated. I then lodged the petition, paid the fee, included the support docs, etc and today received a I-797C Notice of Action letter.
It says:
"Your conditional resident status is extended for aperiod of one year. During the one-year extension you are authorised employment and travel. (This extension and authorisation for employment and travel does not apply to you if your conditional resident status has been terminated)."
It then goes on to mention about soon receiving an ASC appointment notice for biometric processing.
I am worried about the second line of the first paragraph. of the I-797C notice. Does this actually mean, despite saying I have a 12 month extension, I cannot work or travel because my conditional residency was previously terminated?
