I-765 concurrent with I-485???

Hello, I have a rather unique situation, and I'm not a lawyer so I figured I would ask advice here and see what you all thought:
Basically, I am working on getting an I-485 filed for my wife, who is currently EAD as an OPT (Optional Practical Training, as a student). Her Student OPT will expire in approx 2-3 months, and I wanted to also file for another EAD (i-765) for her, which I believe I am eligible to do, with her as a C-17-ii (Domestic of USC), OR as a C-9 (Filed I-485).
My question is, which would be better to use for her eligibility status on the I-765? The Domestic of a USC, or as "Filed I-485"? (The 485 will be in the mail by the end of the week or sooner, and we would prefer to e-file the 765. That's why I am asking what would be better, and if there are any bad things about doing it either way)? Let me know if I have omitted anything that could be relevant, and I appreciate the help.
