wow ... that was quick

I had the biometrics taken on monday 02/13/06, today, only 14 days later I received the plastic card issued on 02/15/06. It expires on 02/14/07.
The I-797D letter was sent 02/22/06.

Way to go ! I had received my EAD card after 7 days but 14 is not bad. Now, how come you got it for 1 year ??

Ema.

I hope mine goes that fast...I'm about to take a job offer and my start date will be on June 5th...I should be OK...I keep telling myself that. It's nice to hear about stuff actually moving fast sometimes.

I was thinking it might take 4 weeks, that's why I was surprised.
How long do they issue those EADs "normally"? I don't know why it is 1 year.
I just hope I'll get the green card way earlier than that.

Wow, that's great news!! Congratulations! What's an I-797D??
The I-797D is the letter which they send out with all kind of cards, the Permanent Resident Card, the EAD, and other visa cards.

I'm not complaining about how smooth it went so far in my case. The only delay I had was caused by my own fault regarding those fees I sent the first time. After that everything went just fine. I hope it remains this way.

Mine is good for 1 year, same as rex's!

But since your GC has been approved already (while mine is still pending for FBI  ), the EAD expiry date wouldn't bother you anymore ;)

My EAD card was for a 6 months period only.

Ema.

Well, maybe they issue the EAD for 1 year automatically now because they already have a huge pile of cases with pending FBI checks or whatnot. That way they avoid more and more cases in which people have to apply for renewal of their EADs. Would be a smart move to reduce unnecessary paperwork.

Hang in there. Patience is probably the only thing we need, hopefully.

I got my EAD card pretty quickly too. See timeline below. I guess its totally random depending on how USCIS is backed up.
