Soon (9/3/03) it will be 90 days short of my 2nd GC anniversary and my wife and I will be able to petition for the restrictions on my GC to be removed. (Family GC through mariage to my US citizen wife). I understand form I-751 and its requirements for supporting evidence, etc.
My question is this: the BCIS are unlikely to process the I-751 and grant me a full GC before my present 2-year GC expires. I am due to travel internationally over Christmas/New Year. Do I have to apply for Advanced Parole to travel at the same time I file my I-751, or is it understood at the port-of-entry that the receipt or other paperwork will suffice for reentry to the US while the BCIS processes my I-751?
What about working while my I-751 is being processed? Do I also need to apply for an EAD?
Update 8/21/2003: Hearsay suggests that the receipt of I-751 submission also acts as a 1 year extension to the GC. This I suppose would extend *all* the benefits of a GC (travel, work, etc) for a year. I'd love to find something on an official (ideally BCIS) to confirm this. I can't find anything which unambiguously states this. Anyone?
