I-751 (California) Biometrics appointment experience.
Hi,
I filed the I-751 in June, and a few weeks later got my biometrics appointment notice for 7/9/08, which was yesterday.
I took all the necessary precautions, as suggested in the notice, i.e. left my cellphone in the car and prepared to present a photo ID. It said in the letter that only naturalization applicants are required to present their green card, so I just came with my CA driver's license.
At the reception desk, however, they also asked to see my green card, which I did not bring. I almost panicked, thinking that I would need to be rescheduled. The guy then explained that the reason is that they need to verify that the A# on the biometrics appointment letter matches the A# on my greencard. Sheesh. At least, he told me I can go ahead and get printed but that when I get home I need to verify the same.
So kids, let this be a lesson to you all. Even though the letter seems to suggest that "only naturalization applicants are required to present their green card", you should also bring your green card to the biometrics appointment as well!
P.S. The place I went to is the ASC in San Francisco.
