I-751 help?

Hi everyone, new couple to the site.

My wife is from Bogota, Colombia and we are finishing up her residency. Well we are finally getting to file the I-751 Petition to remove conditions on residence.

Our questions are simple I guess.

1. One of our good friends who has known us both since before we got married is not a US Citizen but she has her green card and is working on her citizenship as well. She also happens to be from Colombia, but has been here well before my wife haha. We want to know if she can fill out an Affidavit attesting to our relationship and marriage.
I feel she would be one of the biggest benefits on the Affidavit section since I have known her about 3 years before I met my wife, and she was the one who introduced us.

The other question is,
What would those who have gone through this, or are going through this, recommend we send in?
We have the taxes, and a joint bank account, as well as a yr lease, and we can send hundreds of photos and videos if that was needed, Should I get her name put on my title? I am the only one who drives right now.

Thanks!

If your documentation is strong enough, don't bother with the affidavit from the friend. Those affidavits are not required; they are for people whose other evidence of bona fide marriage is weak.

I submitted I-751 last month but did not attach any affidavit letter. I think it is important to demonstrate some relationship evidence for the past 2 years but not a few recent months. If you only include a joint bank statement for a month or two, that will raise a flag (I think). We opened joint checking and savings accounts back in this January. Each statement for the joint checking should have some activities. Otherwise, it may look phony. You can include as many as evidences you can. That is all you can do.

In the worst case, we just need to visit the local office for interview. We have nothing to worry about because our marriage has been steady and still stands the same.

  • Joint tax returns for 2 years
  • Auto Insurance for 2 years
  • Joint checking account statements since February
  • Joint savings account statements since February
  • Cellular Phone Bills for 2 years
  • 401(k) and IRA beneficiary letters
  • Past travel - flight tickets
  • Future travel itineraries
  • 20 Photos

Sending video is useless, they don't want them. Make sure your documents cover the entire period of your marriage since the interview. They put a lot of value on the commingling of financial resources [more than pictures] so bank statements every other month with regular activity like direct deposit, joint health insurance, joint assets, joint credit card bills etc.
