Dear all,
I have a conditional GC(marriage to US citizen) that is expired in April 2006,i filed I-751(removing conditions) and got a letter that extended my GC for one more year(until January 2007).
B/c i am currently overseas for 2 years(2005-2007) due to my husband job, INS knows about it, and they wrote me another letter stated: "your petition placed on Overseas Hold", b/c you are outside of the US. When you come back we will return to your case..." something like that, and note:i have to return by BEFORE my GC expires(letter extended it for one more year).
I also have a re-entry permit valid 2006-2008, so i am covered but here are 3 questions:
How can i retain my GC without going back to US untill my 2 years commitment expires with my husband overseas(not civil or government work)?
Also, can the re-entry perm. help me in this case?
What will INS do if i am not back at the time my extended letter expires?
THANKS, lelik
