I filed the I-751 form to remove conditional status on my permanent residency ( based on marriage to US citizen) in January of last year. I received the acknowledgement from the INS vermont service center in Feb, but have not head a word from them since. In the meantime I tried to call them to check the status of my case and the line is always busy. The automated system cannot recognize my case number either. So I have no idea what is going on. I wrote a letter to the INS in oCtober and have not heard from them about that either.
My conditional residency expires on Feb 20, 2003 and I am not sure what my status would be if I am not able to get in touch with the INS by that time. Would I become out of status?
Can anyone here tell me what I should do? Should I contact a lawyer?
