Hi I am sorry, but I dont know how to post a new thread, so I wanted to ask a question. I came on a B1/B2 in December 2005.

We Got married April 2006. Filed June 2006 and got conditional September 2006. We are still happily married, and jointly filed for removal of conditions on June 16, 2008, since conditional expires september 14, 2008.

We put in pictures, joint tax insurance, life insurance, investments together etc....Check cashed on June 20, 2008 and 1 year extension dated June 18th, 2008 (btw the 1 year extension was sent to the lawyers office, and not to our address - isnt this strange???We got the original from the lawyer though!). We have the 1 year extension but no biometrics appointment after 2.5 months of waiting and waiting..........

I have been waiting for a biometrics appointment for over two and a half months! Looking at the threads here seems many in California (which is where we live and where we file) get their biometrics within 4 to 6 weeks. What the heck is going on? I have called my laweyer many times, and he keeps saying we should just wait. I dont understand why the biometrics appointment letter has not come.

We did 'overkill' with the documents submitted but I am just getting really worried, and the lawyer does not seem to have any answers except, lets wait a couple more weeks. Can I check with immigration myself? the case number is useless now anyway because they only start giving you updates AFTER the biometrics appointment. Do people usually wait for many months before getting the biometrics appointemnt? Any advice or similar experience is appreciated.

Thanks

Call the phone number listed on your NOA1 and see if someone there can help you.

If that doesn't get you an answer, make an Infopass appointment at your local office.

The case status online only works after the biometrics appointment, using the number on the biometrics notice.

Most people have had biometrics scheduled about a month after filing. Check on this as soon as you can because it is possible that the notice got lost in the mail.

Hi Mrs. S,
Thanks for the response. I am shocked because everyone that I know says that they got their biometrics appointment within 1 month!

The 1 800 number only works if you have a case number and no one ever answers the phone!

What is infopass? Do you know what that is exactly? And do I need an appointment to see someone there? Can my lawyer go on my behalf?
Thanks,

For the 1-800 number: You can probably use the case number on your NOA1, and if there's no other way to get a live person, follow the instructions for changing your address and you'll get a person on the line.

Infopass is the system you can use to schedule an appointment at your local office. Here's the link: https://infopass.uscis.gov/info_en.php

If I were you, I wouldn't trust the lawyer at this point since he/she wasn't concerned about the delayed notice and didn't even offer to look into it for you when you brought up your concerns.

Good luck! Please update the board on what you learn in case it helps someone else in the future.

Hi Mrs. S,
Thanks again. The lawyer said that they have filed an inquiry with the CSC. Should I wait to hear back on the outcome of their inquiry, before I schedule an infopass appointment? I dont want to have too many inquiries going.
I know what you mean about the lawyer. They have not been too helpful at all. Really sad, because I interviewed many lawyers before picking this one, thinking he was a professional! Ultimately, they just want your money!

It really is your call about whether you want to wait to hear back about your lawyer's inquiry. If he's given you an idea of how long it should take to hear back, you can always schedule an infopass appointment a few days after that, just in case there's no news by then.

Good luck!

Hi Mrs. S. The lawyer heard back from the CSC. Biometrics is now scheduled for Septmebr 30. Over 3 months after we filed! Do u know what the next step is after biometrics?

After biometrics, we all get to wait for either an approval, an RFE or an interview, depending on luck and evidence submitted.

ok thanks. I still cannot believe it took over 3 months for the biometrics to arrive......I just hope after this, it is smooth sailing...

I-751 Timeline and Los Angeles California Info Pass Appointment

Hi,
I am back. Its been exactly 6 months since my filing for removal of conditions. The website says that it takes 6 months for them to process this type of case. We have heard nothing. We did the biometrics about 3 months ago.

My husband and I wanted to set up an info pass appointment to check on the status of the application, since the time they put on their website has elapsed.

Does anyone have any experience dealing with the Los Angeles office for anything like this?

Do you think its a good idea to check with them? Or will they get mad at you and try to delay further?

Any advice is appreciated.
