I filed for removal of conditions 2 months ago. My GC will expire soon and I got my extension letter. I need to travel overseas for 2 weeks, however, my GC will be expired when I travel. I am very worried about how I will be able to return to US. I know in theory all I need is an expired GC and my extension letter to come back, but how many people have actually travelled like that and had no problems at the border? Anybody please? Thank you. I am flipping out big time. This will be my first time travelling after 2 years.

You are fine. You can travel with your expired GC and the letter of extension. No immigration official is going to give you hardtime, because they can always verify that your applied for extension....

NB: carry your expired gc with the letter at all times while traveling overseas, till you are issued a new one. enjoy your overseas trip....:)

as far as I know that is all you will need to travel. If you are still unsure, then make an infopass and request an I-551 stamp in your passport.

The immigration process is stressful enough. Don't add unnecessary stress on top of it. Breathe deeply and relax.
