I-730 asylee vs derivative granted by judge?

Is there any difference in status of derivative asylee received through I-730 and when, for example, you are added to your spouse's case in the process and then you both get asyle status after the hearing by an immigration judge. My lawyer says there is a difference meaning you are more independant when granted by ij vs I-730. As in you may, for example, divorce a primary asylee before the GC was granted and be given your own case... Have you, guys, heard anything about it?

NO difference. It is the same status whether granted by an Immigration Judge or the DHS.
