I-693 by OB/Gyn

Hi everyone

We are going through the I-485 application with my wife, filing concurrently with me. She's pregnant and when we asked her OB/Gyn about it, he said that he could fill out the I-693 for us. He did the bloodwork, TB test and everything and filled it out.

However my lawyer says that it won't be valid unless he's a USCIS certified civil surgeon that shows up in their database. The I-693 has a section (Civil Surgeons Certification) that states :"I certify under penalty of perjury under United States law that: I am a civil surgeon designated to examine applicants seeking certain immigration benefits in the U.S. OR a physician who qualifies under a blanket designation specified by policy or law" (he did fill out and sign this question).

So my question is: under what conditions would my wife's Ob/Gyn qualify for the "blanket designation specified by policy or law"?

Thanks!!

USCIS has a list of designated civil surgeons. If the doctor is not on the list, USCIS will reject the I-693.

Use this link to check if that doctor is on the list, otherwise find a new doctor and get a refund.

However, vaccinations given by any medical professional can be used towards the immunization requirement, so if that OB/Gyn gave her any vaccinations, your wife should show the vaccination record to the designated civil surgeon (along with any other vaccination records from earlier in her life), so that will reduce or eliminate the vaccinations she needs for the immigration medical.
