I moved back to India after my J-1 visa expired.
My J-1 waiver was approved by the DoS on 1/6/11. Subsequently, my attorney filed for a H1b (premium processing) which was also approved (I-797) on 2/8/11.
However, I have not received any information from the USCIS regarding processing of my waiver - no reciept, etc (Vermont Service Center).
1. Has anyone recd. a waiver recently? If so, what is the timeline for USCIS processing?
2. Can I apply for a Visa in the US consulate in India based on the DoS approval and I-797?
Appreciate any help.
