I-551 re-stamping San Jose

I-551 stamped on 03/5/02 at San Jose INS Office expires on 09/04/02.

I haven't received the GC yet.

How soon should I re-stamp before it expires? (one week eariler? one month earlier?...)

What documents do I need to carry other than PP and I-485 approval notice?
