I-539: Approval/rejection probability

imigration

I'm going to file I-539 form for converting from H1B to f1 status. I have a MS in civil engg. and have been working in the same field(civil engg.) for the past 3yrs.. Now, I applied for MS in computer science and am a bit skeptical if USCIS will reject my I-539 for this reason.

Please suggest me if I can go ahead and apply for MS in computer science.

I have no idea why you would do this as there is great demand projected for civil engineers. You are permitted to study part time on H1B; the costs are frequently paid by larger, legitmate employers.

If you have funding and appropriate justification to be granted F1 - like ties to home country, there is no reason why your existing MS would keep you from pursing another degree. Note if it is a US degree and you had an MS OPT, you will not receive another OPT period.

the reason i can't find a company to sponsor me for my education is cause i'm 'Laidoff', else I wouldn't have posted my question here and would've asked my company for sponsoring education in the same field.

thanks for your response though concerned4us.
