I-485a

Dear Friends

I got I-140 approval (NIW) and am ready to file I-485.
My friend, who got I-485 approval this year, told me that I should file I-485 supplimentary A with $1000 check when I file I-485. However, I am not sure what is I-485 A and why I can not file just I-485.
Can anyone enlighten me about this matter? I have never been out of status so far. Thank you.

One need to file I-485A and USD 1000.00 penalty (with I-485) to take the advantage of 245(i)!

In your case, you were never out of status (you mentioned that in your posting). So you should not need to file I-485A. If you want to know more about 245(i), visit www.shusterman.com and read 245(i) postings (just for quick info, one can advantage of 245(i) when he/she is ready to file I-485 if he/she was out of status).
