It may be ok to do that.

I think you should be fine as long as BCIS will not make a decision on your 485 case within 180 days. But if they do so, which I think is highly unlikely, you GC process will have to start all over again. Could some one confirm this? I am not exactly sure. Good luck!

thanks for the quick reply. According to your idea, even INS makes decision after 180 days, they may still send RFE, then in my emp letter, i have to state hire date which INS can tell I changed job less than 180 days after filling I485.

Is that a big problem?

ANy suggestions are really appreciate.
 
Apply for 485 on old company BUT without some proper documents ( say medicals! )

You will get RFE and no way you get approved in 180days
 
No problem

180 day rule is not about when you changed jobs. Even if you get RFE, as long as the case has been pending for 180 days, you are fine. Changing jobs before 180 days creates a risk only when BCIS makes a decision in the same time frame.

You can ask an attorney. The above is only my understanding of AC21.

To push it beyond the 180 days, you can talk to your lawyer about delaying/rescheduling the FP if needed(if you follow through with your lawyer's suggestion).
