My wife applied for I-485 back in April 2006. I was a permanent resident at that time. Two months later, the Visa Bulletin retrogressed 2 and a half years and so her priority date was no longer current. When we went to the interview in Boston in July, they couldn't approve her application, told us to wait until either I became a citizen or her priority date becomes current again. I recently became a US Citizen, so I took an InfoPASS, went to Boston DO and gave them a copy of my naturalization certificate so they can upgrade my wife's application.
My question is: anybody knows how long will it take them to process this upgrade? I'm asking because this situation is not common, USCIS is used to deal with upgrading I-130s, not I-485 after the interview. I'm afraid that the upgrade request will simply linger somewhere on a shelf...
