I-485 Section 3 - date & place of entry question

This concerns Section 3 of I-485. My current I-94 in my passport shows that my last return to the US, from Europe, was in September 2004in H1B status, at Los Angeles airport. However, three months later I left the US again to visit Mexico (by car) in December, did not turn in my I-94 since there was nowhere to do so on leaving the US by car, on my return to the US I was inspected by US immigration at the border, and was quickly and cleanly allowed entry without a new I-94, and without any new stamp in my passport. Question is: Do I a) enter the date and place of my last entry into the US exactly as it's shown on my I-94, as if Mexico never happened, or b) do I enter the date and place of entry after the Mexico trip even though my current I-94 doesn't record this (though USCIS's computers might)?
