I-485 RFE question

I got a RFE in my 485. I had filed 485 in July '01, I recently quit my sponsoring employer and joined another company in Georgia. I got a RFE on my 485 requesting tax papers and pay stubs and they have asked whether i am working with the sponsoring employer and if not why. I changed attorney also in the process, my attorney is asking me why i quit the old company, so he can respond to that.

What would be the right answer to this. Is there anyone who got RFE after switching jobs what did you respond?
 
Best to say u were layed off

Theoriticaly, u need to be layed off - not voluntarily quit ( for the 180 day thing to kick in) ( U have to have the "intent" of working permanently for the sponsoring employer )

If you were not, I have seen previous posts in which some people have given the following reason for quitting ...

# Our company was laying off people and I knew my group was next in line ....
# I found another offer - which was valid only if I join them right now
# This made me quit and join the new employer

If you can prove that company was planning to do some lay off or
company was doing badly( stock or previous lay off), may help.

Other options may be:
Job responsibility change, project termination, relocation of the company
