i-485 RFE ( prev employer i-797 missing )

on 4th mar '05 i received a RFE about my previous employer ( ABC ) submitted H1 extension approval notice ( i-797 ). Sequence of events :
i) ABC company filed my H1 extension : 15th Feb 2002
ii ) Received EAC notice on : 22nd Mar 2002
iii ) Xferred H1 to XYZ ( current employer ) on : 12th Aug 2002
iv) ABC company H1 approval : 18th Dec 2002

Now "ABC" company no longer exists and has never given me a copy of i-797 ( approval notice ). Cannot find the copy at Law office and at ABC company.

Filed my 485 with "receipt notice" and now INS asks for status proof between Feb 2002 and Aug 2002.

Is this case unique ? Any options here ?

Hi Ideon ,
I am als facing the same issue . I heard that by filling i824 we can get duplicate h1B approval notice but that also takes 6 months min to get it and I am not sue whether we can apply for it or not
let me know if you find something else

i finally managed to get the copy from prev employer's law office .. thanks for the response. am back on track now ..
