Friends I need one clarification -

For Filing I-485 one has to be physically present here in US.
What does filing means ? does it just mean sending paper ( by lawyer)?

I had gone to india on 4th Feb\'01 and lawyer had completed and posted the I-485 paper work on 2nd Feb\'01 ( does is count as "Filing" ?).

So Is my application valid or will i have some problem later on ?

( I-485 was send to CSC Center , and lawyer has got papers receipt notice from INS )

All that is needed is your signature and fingerprint on the EAD card. Other than that you dont need to be physically present in the US as long as you have a valid visa to enter back to the US.

"Yes" filing means turning in the paperwork to INS. I am glad u already got a receipt.

only signature is required and not fingerprint ( unless lawyer specifically asked for a EAD signature card ) ..ead signature cards are not mandatory ...also when(date ) did your lawyers get the receipt from CSC??

i think they got it 2-3 days back.

also i realized after signing ( and 485 filing ) that lawyer has goofed up dates ( missed giving dates on few forms and at couple of places gave wrong dates). I am not sure what will happen next. Am having my fingures crossed.
