I-485 questions after NIW approved

I just got my self-petitioning NIW case approved by VSC, have several questions about I-485 filing. Gurus on the boards, I will appreciate if you can help me with your knownledge. Thanks!

1) On Form I-485, there is an item called A#, what is it? and where do I find it? Or the A# will be sent to me soon and I can file the case after I get the A#?

2) where should I file I-485? Local INS office of VSC?

3) Affidavit support/Employment letter? Since it is a self-petitioning NIW, there is no employer invovled, do I still need an employment letter? My spouse would file I-485 concurrently with my I-485, should I submit Affidavit of support for him/her?

4)medical exam, where can I find a list of INS approved doctors for the medical exam?

5)Concurrent filing, Does it mean I should send my I-485 and my spouse\'s I-485 in same package?

6)Evidence of status, is it copy of the current Form I-94 or copies of all the documents for my F-1, EAD and current H-1B?

7)Should adavced parole and work authorization application be filed and sent in the same package of I-485 filing or should they be filed and sent to INS sepetratly?

I guess I have too many naive/stupid questions. Thanks for any hints or answers, thank you very much.

Since I just went through the whole NIW I-140 filing, I would be glad to answer if anyone would have any question in his/her NIW filing.

Congratulations

HI, congratulations !

I am thinking about filing one NIW application soon by my self. What kind of supporting of materials did you provide? Did you have a long ststement? How long did it take for your petition to be approved? Any RFE?
Thanks

I-485

I filed I-485 2 days ago.(EB1-EA)
1)If you have EAD EAD say A#, otherwise none.
2)Lawyer sent VSC.
3)I did not sent employment letter(self petition). You should submit affidavit of support for family.(notarized)
4)See http://www.immigration.com/dr/
5) I do not know. But any reason for separate package?
6) copy of passport (all pages), approval notice for H-1B (copy), I-94(copy)
7)same package

Congratulations

You may fill "none" even if you had an A# on EAD (OPT)

2) where should I file I-485? Local INS office of VSC?
*******
Service Center.

3) Affidavit support/Employment letter? Since it is a self-petitioning NIW, there is no employer invovled, do I still need an employment letter? My spouse would file I-485 concurrently with my I-485, should I submit Affidavit of support for him/her?

An employment letter is not required but it usually helps.
Affidavit of support is needed for derivative beneficiaries.

"BobXu" should be a guy. Your wife ("her") qualifies to file I-485 with you. Your same-sex partener ("him"), if any, does not.

4)medical exam, where can I find a list of INS approved doctors for the medical exam?
***************
Call INS national service center or check http://www.immigration.com

5)Concurrent filing, Does it mean I should send my I-485 and my spouse\'s I-485 in same package?

You do not have to but doing so is in your interest.

6)Evidence of status, is it copy of the current Form I-94 or copies of all the documents for my F-1, EAD and current H-1B?
*******
Yes

7)Should adavced parole and work authorization application be filed and sent in the same package of I-485 filing or should they be filed and sent to INS sepetratly?

You may do so but you donot have to.

Hi, tangonta and Kentucky

Could you tell me where I can download the Affidavit support form? From INS webpage? What\'s name of the form? Thank you so much!

No Title

Master degree, working for a fortune 500 company on energy related projects for 4 years. 5 patents pending, 4 conference paper. 11 references letters, mostly from industry, but only two from my company.

Thanks

RD 12/28/01, ND 01/04/02, AD 03/01/02 No RFE.

I have been trying to overwhelm INS officer, so I had a very long cover letter, about 50 pages or so. In the same package, I packed in lots of reports, presentations, papers, patents, awards, etc. The total package is around 1000 pages or so.

I have been told over and over again: For NIW, presentation is the most important thing, for more important than the qualifition, references, etc. I am gald I did it my self, no lawyer would even spend 1/10 the time I spent on my petition.

Good luck

Good job!

Congratuations, Bob. You mentioned you have a 50 page cover letter, thats really not a easy thing. If you don\'t mind, would you please share some lights on how do you elabrate the INS favorate question regarding labor cerfication issue? What\'s your bases of avoiding it? In other word, how do you present the labor cerfication issue? Thanks

Bobxu, Congratulations! Can you please do me a favor?

Hi, bobxu,

Congratulations!

I am planning to file NIW by myself like you did. But I know little about it. Since I am also working in energy field, I think i can definitely benefit from your experience. Could you please kindly let me know your email address so that I can contact you? If you are willing to help me, could you please send email to jhc@apep.uci.edu.

Thanks a lot!

Can you help me? bob?

Hi, Bob: Congratulations! You did a great job! I am preparing EB1-OR or EB1-NIW by myself now. I had a bad experience with my previous lawyer, my EB1-NIW failed last year. This time, I decided to do it by myself. I really need some help on how to present my works. I had Ph.D degree for one year, working in a big company, 18 papers published, many presentations, 8 reference letters (1 Korean, 1 Taiwan, 1 France, 5 USA), 5 citations, 6 reviewer, 2 conference technical committee, 2 awards in my homeland, 2 award in USA, and also I can get the support letter from my comany. I bet I have a strong background, but I have no idea to write a beautiful presentaion as you did. Could you please give me some hints, and send email to my address: lxz0111@yahoo.com
Thank you very much! lily
