i-485 question

I've currently filed my I-140 via eb2-NIW and just found out my job is being cut at the end of the month.

I was wondering if I can file the I-485 to maintain my legal status and get a new job?

Also, what additional information do I need to send in with a completed I-485 form?

In part 2 what application type do I check, A or H?
On the current USCIS status do I write: "EB2-NIW I-140 pending"?

1- If you are from India or China, you probably cannot file your I-485 and may have to leave the country. If you are from any other country, then yes you can.
2- There are a whole bunch of papers you need to send. A list can be found at:

Note, you need to make an appointment with a civil surgeon ASAP for your medical test.
3- "A" is fine, just include a copy of your I-140 receipt. No, you cannot state "I-140 pending" because that is not a status; you need to state what your actual non-immigrant status is for this month (H-1B?). Obviously, you would need to file before your H-1B (or whatever status you are in) expires because of end of employment.
