I-485 question Help

I have submit my I-485 about 5 months ago. I have not received anything except the checks receipts paper (little yellow paper which indicate how many items they collect).

Is this normal?

Anyone know how long should I wait for receipt number ? It seems wired for me to wait this long for the receipt number and without any other notice.

Anything will be helpful. Thank you.

Have you filed it thru a lawyer? If so, they would have the receipts by now. If you have filed by urself, please call INS and find out. You should get the receipts with EAC# and A# within a couple of weeks, these days i guess.
 
Thank you for your information.

I filed in by myself. I had call INS service center and they told me that NYC office might take longer time than others. And he does not has any estimate time on when I will receive anything.

I had also just send out a letter to local INS office. One to change my address and put a note on it to indicate that I don't have receipt number. The other was asking if they still have my application and wondering that if I have everything submitted. No reply yet. I sent it out about 10 days ago.

I am going to wait couple more days and then, I will contact an attorney regarding the issue.
