I-485 Portablity Across Employer/Salary Changes

Hi,
I have the I-485 application pending with NSC and 180 days
are over with FP done.

The company who filed for Green Card closed down after 180
days pending of I-485, and now a new job offer is coming
from a consulting company and the client will be at a different
location.

The nature and description of the new Job at the client's site
will be very similar to that mentioned in the green card
LCA from the previous company.

However the salary offered by the new consulting company
is about 41 % less than that in GC LCA.

I had a EAD approved before but now it has expired.
I have applied for an EAD extension to the NSC now.

The consulting company is willing to do a H1B transfer
now since EAD renewal will take some time before
it gets approved.

My question is if I accept this job offer from the consulting
company with much less salary will the I-485 still be
portable ?

Will the I-485 remain portable If I join using H1B now or
should wait for EAD renewal to be approved to be on the
consulting company's payroll ?

Also after a employer change should I need to inform INS
about the new Job or wait for a RFE (previous company
has informed INS about their business shutdown,
w.r.t. the H1B holders) ?

Before any RFE comes, is AR-11 the only method to inform
INS about the employer change or by some other means ?

If INS has to be informed about the new employer before
RFE comes, should salary be mentioned at all ?

I would appreciate any answer to my questions or any other
suggestions in this regard.

Thanks in advance,
-Somen.
