I-485 & police clearance

Hi,

I read in the I-485 form something about police clearance but it wasn't clear if I need to get that and file it with the I-485 and I-130 and all other forms? or they will ask for it later on in the process?

If police clearance is needed before filing, then should I get police clearance for all of the states that I lived in the USA? or do they also need one from backhome?

I am not sure what clearance there is. When you file I-485 and submit your fingerprint, the FBI automatically runs a background check againts their database. You do not need to submit additional documents.

police clearance is needed for consular processing. If you are applying for AOS, police clearance is not needed.
