I-485 pending - passport renewal question

Guys,

My I-485 is pending (see signature below) and it might be approved anytime now. I need to renew my Indian passport very soon (it expires in May and I need to visit India sometime then). So my question is - do you guys see any problem with getting a new passport issued, given that my I-485 application has my old passport number? Do we need to enter passport number for I-551 stamping and is it OK to have a different one now compared to what we entered during I-485 filing?

Anyone else been through this situation? Do you guys see any issues?

You should have no problem with a new passport. My wife had the same situation with yours. She used her new passport (different passport # than hew old one) for her I551 stamp and was ok. She even traveled abroad with the new passport that carried the I551 and had no problem to return to US.

passport lost

I have the same situation and passport is lost. Though I have I 94 and all related docs and a copy of my passport as well. I am going to apply for the new one and lets see what happens.
I dont think its a big issue as they all need is a passport.
 
Guys, don't worry. I had renewed my passport after filing I-485. The I-551 was stamped on my new passport ( your expired passport is attached to the new one) and I recently traveled to India with no problems at re-entry (except Air India lost my baggage :mad: ).
