I-485 NSC versus TSC

A quick look at trackitt seems to indicate that NSC is moving faster than TSC at least for the Receipt Notices... Nothing came out yet from July filings at TSC, while NSC has already sent quite a few Notices for July, up to July 26!

NSC is nearly 4 weeks ahead, at least for some files...

Thats good to know my i-485 is with NSC and I filed on Aug 17 so will get my receipt soon.

Well, I would be careful. So many files arrived at the end of the 17Jul-17Aug filing window that it could take longer the closer you are to the deadline...

Chris

TSC could not have received any I-485 until August 1st as it was centralised filling so everyone would have sent to NSC. Only July 31st, Direct filling was amended which routes to TSC ( for TSC judsitiction states)

I don't think so... but perhaps do I misunderstand USCIS statement?

Q5: Where should employment-based adjustment applications be filed?
A5. Forms I-485 may be filed at either the Nebraska Service Center or the Texas Service Center in accordance with the Direct Filing Update issued June 21, 2007.

Indeed, the form I-485 did state it, but USCIS made clear that either center could be used anyway! Actually, you can see on trackitt that quite a few applications were sent to TSC starting on July 17, with none of them having received a Notice yet.

Now, perhaps TSC sent them back to NSC, and that I don't know! ;)

I heard TSC is sending out approved EAD and AP along with the receipts. Some of my July 2nd friends got everything in one big packet... thats why they must be so behind. Also lot of I485 cases have been transferred from NSC to TSC.

Over all, TSC is more efficient for most applications. Take for example EB2-NIW petitions... TSC is months ahead of NSC.

I did not say that TSC or NSC or whatever is more efficient :)

I just stated that I-485 receipt notices are coming, for now, faster from NSC than TSC.

It is somewhat important as a receipt number is a good thing to have if emergency actions are needed (though a tracking number from USPS or other carriers could perhaps be used, as mentionned somewhere on this forum, something I don't know about).

Chris

ChrisV, you are right.... Maybe NSC is issuing receipt numbers faster because it usually receives most I485 filings, and then forward to TSC...

Regarding EB2-NIW, I am just frustrated for how slow NSC is... I have been waiting for more than 10 months already and my I140 has not yet been touched...

I am a bit confused about the ongoing discussion about where I-485 were to be sent. My idea was to send it to the service center where you filed (or e-filed) the I-140 and which is what i did. But some ppl are saying that all I-485 should have been sent to NSC. Is that true because sending I-485 from TSC to NSC will delay issuing of receipts.

You know what? No need to worry because there is nothing we all can change now about where we sent our applications! :)

Enjoy a good Labor Day weekend knowing that, wherever you filed your application, it is going to be taken care of.

A warm aloha to all.
