Hi,

I've had my work permit for 1.5 years now & just got I-140 approved.

I'm in this situation right now that my tax return for last year was
a lot less that what it's supposed to be.... ( $18k vs $38k )....
- I had to leave my employer and they agreed to continue to support me on
my application, so I've been "paying them to pay me", and I wasn't able
to afford the original salary.....

How likely am I to be approve for the green card if I was asked to
go in for an interview & show my tax returns???
What can I do to remedy this situation???

I'm so nervous right now.......... :(

Hi,

You may be called for an interview or you may get an RFE.

Assuming all other documents are in order and USCIS is asking about your employment, the first and foremost thing USCIS is expecting is the job has to be in "same/similar occupational classifications" and atleast you get the salary amount specified on your labor. Please read this AC21 rule.
