I-485 Letter from Vermont Service center (reason for delay)

Hi All,
I got a letter for my pending I-485 from Vermont Service Center. I filled in Nov 2003 for I-485. The dates currently being processed is Mar 2004.

The letter mentioned " There is delay in processing of your case, since we are waiting for an approval from another department ".

Did anyone of u guys got the same? "ANOTHER DEPARTMENT" ??? What is that? Is that FBI Name check pending.

Please help me out.

Its quite possible that they are waiting for your Name Check Clearance. You can find out with FBI what is your name check status and then all your doubts will be cleared.

Thanks for the reply. I have sent email to FBI on Feb 2004 . I think in another 2 - 3 months i might get reply from them.
