I-485 interview quesiton. please help

I just checked my I-485 status. And my status is as follows:

On November 27, 2002, we transferred your I485 APPLICATION TO ADJUST TO PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS to another INS office for them to schedule and conduct your interview. Scheduling can take several months. That office will notify you when they schedule your interview or take other action on your case.

Is there any friend know what that interview means? Why do I have to take interview and why scheduling interview will take so long time?

My case the same.

My case is the same, see my signature. Can you please post your details? I am trying to have a feel for this transfer/interview phenomenon that started lately.

Which local office do you think your case has been transferred to?
