I filed my I-485 along with I-130/131/765 and have my interview coming up in 3 weeks. I filed all the paperwork myself but had a family friend who is an immigration lawyer look over before sending.
With the interview notice included was a note that I need to bring any paperwork if I ever had a traffic incident that was alcohol or drug related with a fine of more than $500. Now I answered No on my I-485 to the question if I had ever been arrested for anything but a traffic violation.
I did have a DUI in 2008 in Germany but got off with a $700 fine and a temporary suspension of my license. Since I didn't get arrested or jailed I assumed that this is a traffic violation only. The laws regarding this differ in Germany vs. the US and here it would be considered a simple DUI.
I will hand in the documentation about the DUI and plan to bring it up during the interview and explain that when I filed my I-485 I answered in good faith.
Does anyone here have any advice towards this issue?
Thanks
