I-485 Freeze

I heard through a friend that one of the reasons why there's a freeze on I-485 is to reduce the number of Indians and Pakistanis employment based GC. And that one of the reasons why there is so much backlogged is because of the Indians and Pakistanis citizen filing for GC and that, the process is not fair to other citizens not from India or Pakistan. The guy also told me that INS would slow down on all applications filed from citizens of India and Pakistans and concentrate on other countries to approve them before scrutinizing the I-485 filed by Indian and Pakistanis citizens. Guys anyone hear something like this?

That is a stupid Rumour started by a really SICK IDIOT .Ignore if someone comes out with such a rumour and enjoy the vacation as our good friends in INS are doing Cheer Up Everyone things would be fine in couple of weeks .;)

I agree with ScorpionKin. If this is a rumor [ this is the first posting I had seen with such a concept ], then it must have been started by vested interest parties.

It would be a policy change and a new law will have to be passed by congress and signed by the president for discriminating against certain countries.

IMO

I hate people who "hear through a friend" and post such BS without giving it a second thought. Now since it has started, I will not be surprised to see this BS at more places. And all those places will be refering to "a post at immigration.com". Some idiots will then read the first line and tell their colleages that "Freeze is to reduce number of Indian and Pakistani applicants"........it goes on an on.

Everybody hears lots of BS during lunch time. Not a prudent thing to comeback to your desk and post abstract of those stupid talks on message boards.

INS has a system called priority date(quota system) to allocate a specific number of GC from specific country. It is published every month by DOJ.
If DOJ wants to slectively stop GC of India and Pakistan, they would roll back priority date of these 2 countries.

The fatc that priority dates are still current,
the freez is across the board and not related
to a specific country.

It is my guess that priority date would remain current in near future for India.

India missing from Visa Bulletin

I noticed that the separate listing for India is missing from the visa bulletin. I think immigrant applications from India is falling and is now below the thresholds set by DOJ that India no longer deserves separate listing

May be the reverse trend has started !!

I see and hear lots of cases of people returning back to India. May be the opportunities, May be the change in living conditions or personal reasons. But I clearly see this trend. Infact surprising is the fact that 3 Americans have moved to India from our group. So the numbers issue might be more mute going forward
