I heard through a friend that one of the reasons why there's a freeze on I-485 is to reduce the number of Indians and Pakistanis employment based GC. And that one of the reasons why there is so much backlogged is because of the Indians and Pakistanis citizen filing for GC and that, the process is not fair to other citizens not from India or Pakistan. The guy also told me that INS would slow down on all applications filed from citizens of India and Pakistans and concentrate on other countries to approve them before scrutinizing the I-485 filed by Indian and Pakistanis citizens. Guys anyone hear something like this?

ADJUSTEE, I am just posting what I heard and that what makes this forum unique because of the way we help each other. I was just asking if any one heard this or not. You yourself knows that an average American are begining to have hostile attitude towards immigration and they would do anything to stop more influx of immigrants irrespective of where anyone comes from.
people hear things that they want to hear. if you hear something (from your friend or friend's friend or whatever) please ask them the source ( I mean some URL etc.) and kindly post it here.
Also pls take a little bit of effort to analyse it before sending your friend's word out to the world.

I'm so very confused by this 'Freeze', 'Slowdown', 'Partial Suspension', 'System Upgrade', and BLAH BLAH. That I wish if someone could get into the INS office and talk to some official with good information and post it on this site as to what's going on, I would really regard and respect him/her as an angel of wisdom.
My I485 was filed in Nov '01 (RD), I'm not sure if I should keep any hopes for approval at all, or should I packup my stuff and go to India while there is still a chance to get a job.

there are three views of the same reality
Gov. agencies , Lawyers (people who has some inside info):
there is indeed a system update which will enable a real time check on FBI database. As there is a recent mandate that no one should be approved without the check things are not getting the final approval. so they tend to call it a temporay halt/freeze/suspension.
IIOs (the insiders): This guys do the adjudication . Probably they are doing their work normally. Finishing the adjudication and forwarding it for approval and getting approved (after standard checking) might be technically two different things to them. The last phase might be just a clarical exercise to them internally. so to them there is no freeze. everything going normally. (i.e. normal in the context of INS)
immigrants (the outsiders): to us unless the do the final act everything in between is meaningless. so it is Freeze for us.

I also responded to his post in another forum in a similar manner. Jadi instead of giving explanations please let us know what the source of your friend is (is it a website so we can also read about it).
All you are doing is scaring people who already are waiting for more than 1 yr to get 485's approved.
If you dont have any credible source then I will fully agree with ADJUSTEE and would telll all other users to ignore posts from you in future.
