Gurus,

I have a quick question. My wife's 485 shows the following on the USCIS status website :

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Fingerprint fee rejected and notice mailed; case in suspense.

On September 20, 2007, we rejected your fingerprint fee and mailed you instructions for how to submit the necessary payment. This case is now in suspense. Please submit your payment with our notice as soon as possible after you receive our notice so we may resume processing of this case.

Can anyone please advice ? Did the lawyer screw up somewhere ? My lawyer told me that half of the cases for FP fees have been rejected, (and the lower fees apply). Any responses would appreciated !

If I remember correctly, Didn't the new fee structure kick in on July 30th ?
Anyways, your best bet right now would be to send in a new Biometrics fees check before they reject the case. As far as your lawyer's claim that " half the cases for FP have been rejected", its definitely inaccurate. We would have heard on this forum atleast from few that they experienced this when the new fee structure kicked in.

Others, plz pour in your thoughts.

How long ?

Any idea on how long lawyer has to respond back to USCIS ?
The notice is from Sept 20. I filed on 7/30 and the new fee structure kicked in on 8/17.

My 485 did not have any issues, but the wife's FP fee got rejected. That tells me USCIS screwed up ? What do you guys think ?

any other thoughts?

anyone else in the same boat ? with the finger printing fee reject situation ? looks like many other folks have the same issue, but with different fee problems. Not the FP fee.

I am in the same boat.

I am in the same boat. According to the online status my FP fee is rejected while they accepted my wife's FP fee. The funny thing is they cashed all my checks including my FP fee.
By the way, I havent received my receipts yet. I got the receipt numbers from back of my checks and checked the online status at CRIS website. I guess I will have to wait until I receive the receipts and the rejection letter.
