I-485 filing time

Hi, there,

I have a question regarding my I-485 filing time. My situation is: J1 will be expiring around the end of July and H1B is pending(filed around early May). I am worried that my H1B will take longer than I expected to get approved, in other words probably after J1 expires. Is it a good idea that I file I-485 along with EAD right now? or Should I file I-485 after my H1B gets approved?

You should file your I-485 without any delay and of course with EAD option. At a latter date should you chose to opt for H-1 you can do so.

I think waiting for H1 approval is useless.
