My employment based I-485 was filed in 2001 (just after 911), and it is pending in the lahlah land of name check (a long story by itself. I think it must have been one of the very first applications going through the security check and was lost somewhere in the process).
Anyway, as my wife is a citizen, I was curious if it makes sense for me to file a family-based I-485. Hopefully, it will trigger another name check (FBI indicated that they had no information on me, through a FOIP request).
What are the pros and cons?
