I-485 denied

My I-485 was denied Jan '05. My lawyer has filed an appeal with the appeal unit and a motion to reopen in Feb '05. Up to this day we have not received a reply. Can anyone tell me how long an appeal case takes? Can anyone shed any light or anyone been in a simlar situation? I need some help as to what steps to take.

My appeal for I-140 was approved in approx 6 months (it was in 2003). However my lawyer told, it will be pending from 6 months to 1 year and maybe longer....
