I-485 changing of aprroval date

hi all,
i just got my I-485 approved on April 9th 2007 based on marriage case, and i alread got my 10yrs green card coz i have been married for 2 1/2 yrs.
i submitted my I-485 application back on march 25th 2005

my question is, do they were supposed to approve my I-485 on the date that was submitted(03/25/2005)?
i'm asking coz some people are saying that i could file another I-485 to adjust the date of my permanent resdient so i can apply to my citizenship quicker

is that true?

Citizenship has to do with the date your permanent residency was approved. The date on your GC. Not the date you filed your petitions.
