I-485 background checks

I need some detail info on background checks done to process I-485
What process do they follow to do these checks ?
The background checks are done in India if she is citizen of india?
Do they goto police stations to enquire our background ?
I didn't understood exactly what does it mean by background check

Could anyone of you explain in detail..
I read almost all threads on this topic but i didn't gain knowledge what exactly they check and where do they check, either Homeland country or the place where we reside ??

I guess they wont do background check in India. After you applied for 485, you will receive Finger Print Notice. Your Finger prints are cross checked against national FBI database (crimnal records) and results will be updated to USCIS. Guys let me know if I am wrong.
 
I heard that they send the G325 to the consulate/embassy in India to get some verification done. Not sure if it is true.

I thought the background check was done only in USA to check are we in jail for any punishment (or) involved in any terrorist activities..But with this thread I understood they even do check back in our homeland country now this makes me worried..I will explain my situation hope some one can help out.

My case was filed in concurrent filing, also I-140 approved I gave finger prints also received EAD..BUT back in india RECENTLY due to some family disputes FIR was filed on my name in police station so is this impact on my GC ???

Please help me out.... I never thought this will make an issue until i read rpranesh

Hi Brother,

I want to make you aware that everybody here is speculating about how the background check process works. If you want to believe in this speculation and start panicking the option is open for you. My thought is that neither commoners nor most attorneys are likely to have an idea about this process. In any case, there is nothing you can do. So why not sit back and wait untill you hear something from USCIS.
