NB Back when I was going through the process I could not get
   a straight answer to the birth/marriage certificate issue.
   Answers:
     -Either a certificate from the place of birth/marriage
      issued by a CIVIL authority, OR
     -Affadavits from parents or nearest relative.
   Note that option 2 is perfectly acceptable. Of course, all
   affadavits must be notarised at the local court/katcheri.
