Hi all,

In a few words if it's possible: we are a family of four, applied for asylum in February of 1991. Applications for asylum were granted in Sept. of 1998.

Applications for I485 were received by Nebraska Service on February 15 and 16, 2000.
Last month one petition has been approved; on Feb 17 my daughter received email notification. Now I need an advice: should I make request regarding a status of other three applications, which have a RD date couple days earlier than approved one?
It took so many years to wait, one or two more months doesn't make a big difference. Simply don't want to be caught by new regulations and then wait who knows how many more years.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Many folks solicited the help of their senators/representatives and got some clarifications about their application status. However, others argue against this action because they feel that the INS may take it as an excuse to further delay things. Just give it some time, especially until they change the official latest processing date for I-485 based on asylum in their web site ( I think the cut off time is still December 99) . If it takes so long, then the option of contacting your senator would be a viable one. Good luck!

Were all the I-485s mailed in the same envelope? Do they have the same LIN#? Does the online portfolio show any recent updates to the other 3 cases?

If they are different cases, then CIS will treat them separately and one approval will have nothing to do with the other. :( Unfortunately - this is how they work.

It might not hurt to send a case update request. I am not so sure about involving your Congressman and/or Senator at this point. Just be sure to write a polite/courteous manner.

Goodluck!

All applications were sent in separate envelopes, have different LIN#s. I will wait a week or two and will call to customer service. I don't want to contact senators, I did it before, in 1992 asking to allocate our files, they promised to do it and 3 years later we found out that two files were at SF office and other two on east coast. I contacted 3 years ago again with a hope that they will look if our applications for I485 still existed, but got answer after which I understood that this communication wasn't a help at all.

Case was considered as a family situation, request for asylum, although all applicants were adult already at that time.

Thanks very much for your attention and advice. Good luck for everybody, who has already GC and who wait it.
