I-485 approved with expired FP

Hi,

My wife's case WAC-02-238-5xxxx case. She has done her first FP on sep14th 2002. We changed our residence and hence filled AR-11 and also caled USCIS for which we received change of address confirmation from california service center on june 26th 2003.
Now on Aug 13th 2004 her online case status has changed to "On August 13, 2004, the document we made based on the approval or registration of this case was mailed directly to the person to whom issued."

We were surprised to see that since she hasn't got 2nd FP notice. But yesterday Aug 19th we received a mail from USCIS forwarding her 2nd FP notice due on Juy 17th at Santa Ana office which was near to our old residence. Now we are staying in WA state. In the letter USCIS has acknowledge the recipt of change of address. But now it is not clear for us whether we need to go to do 2nd FP or wait for the approval notice. When we called 1-800 customer service number they said they don't know the actual status of the case and said it is our fault for not attending the FP appointment on July 17th 2004.

Is anybody in the same boat??? Do you guys have any suggestion?

I am the primary applicant WAC-02-120 case which was approved on June 30th 2004 and I got my passport stamped too.
 
Congratulations!! Now, I am hopeful. My AD is Jan 31, 2003 and my FP expired on July 15, 2004. So, maybe, I will be approved soon.
 
I don't want to discourage you but the message you got ("On August 13, 2004, the document we made based on the approval or registration of this case was mailed directly to the person to whom issue") most likely refers to the fact that a FP notification has been sent to the applicant. It might not refer to the GC approval.
If you check this forum you will see that a lot of other people saw the same message online when they received the notification for 2nd FP.
Therefore I think you should go and do the 2nd FP ASAP.
 
That is not the approval status message. Check the forum for that status. Many people who got the same message got their 2nd FP.
 
I was in the same situation. I've got exactly the same status online (including dates)
Unfortunately it doesn't mean that your case is approved. This status update just means that they forwarded your second FP notice to your new location. So I suggest you to have your wives FP done at the local FP facility ASAP using this notice. You shouldn't have any problems (dispite it is overdue and scheduled to a different office). If you do have problems then send a letter to CSC explaining your situation and asking to reschedule FP appointment to a new location.
 
Please take the first opportunity and get the 2nd FP done for your wife, the earlier you get it done, the better the chances of approval soon.

remember in the message it is mentioned "approval or registration", till now we have not seen any posts from any friends here stating that their case was approved while FP was expired. So you better try and go on Monday or if your local office is open tomorrow go and get the 2nd FP done.
 
Unfortunately I am almost positive this isn't an approval. I was in the exact situation myself and was probably as excited as you are - however..my "bubble" burst shortly there after. But, the good news is you have your 2nd FP notice, so you're officially one step closer.

I just checked the ASC center near our home is open on saturday. We will go there tomorrow morning and get the 2nd FP done. I will post our progress here.
